It has the same name than the village where is located and belongs to the borough of Dumbria. In this particular part of the coast something unique happens for Europe, the river Xallas flows into the sea in a 40 metres waterfall, unmissable indeed. This 1200 metres fine white sandy beach has been awarded in 2012 with the Blue Flag. Blue Flag is a prestigious, international award scheme which acts as a guarantee to tourists that a beach or marina they are visiting is one of the best in the world. The criteria are base on the environmental education and information given, the water quality, environmental management and the safety and services. The waters are from calm to moderate swell making it good for families.
