Finisterre derives from the Latin name Finis Terrae, which literally means "End of the Land". Finisterre stands out as a rocky peninsula, the source of many Pagan and Christian legends, renowned for its natural beauty and spectacular sunsets. It is also for the pilgrims the end of the “Camino”. As a seaside town, it is famous for its gastronomy based on fabulous fresh fish and seafood. From our point of view, Cape Finisterre has so many different meanings for so many different people. It is believed that it was a place of worship to the sun for the Phoenicians. For the Romans a shocking site where the sun it was dying every day in the “Tenebrosum Sea”.
